I need a genie

I would say that as far as teens go, I don’t ask for much. I don’t need a new phone every year, I go clothes shopping about once a year, and the mall is not somewhere you’ll likely find me “hanging out”. Most of my possessions valued over $100 have been bought of my own volition, the tab picked up by collective sums of birthday money and the like.
But over the past year, I’ve been yearning for a new computer. There are currently two computers in my house; three counting the broken one my father gave me three years ago. The one I’m using to type out this blog is an electronic Frankenstein of sorts. Affectionately called a “ghetto-rig” by my stepfather Jeremy (it’s creator), my personal computer consists of a run-over ibook connected to a monitor by a mass of cables and wires. The other computer is a Toshiba laptop that’s missing the “R” key, and has exactly 30 seconds of cordless battery life. The broken one residing in the top shelf of my closet overheats easily and will often shut off without warning, even after the internal fan was replaced.
That being said, both computers manage to get the job done, and for that I have no complaints. I do however have a deep hatred for the “ghetto rig”. All videos play like they were filmed in stop-motion, anything requiring java or flash runs at a snails pace, and for any lengthy typing on the internet I have to copy and paste from a word document, otherwise I’m left waiting two minutes after typing one sentence.
The deal is that I get a macbook after I graduate high school. And with that being just little over a couple months away, I have never been more anxious for anything in my life. Note: Not the graduating part, the macbook part. I keep hoping I’ll find it under my pillow in the morning one day, or that the Make-A-Wish foundation will make a special branch for greedy seventeen year olds.
